Bangalore: The State Government is yet to act on the recommendations made by the Karnataka Legal Services Authority on improving the infrastructure at the Observation Home in Bangalore. The three-member Juvenile Justice Board, headed by the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, which decides on cases involving juveniles, functions in the Observation Home.
Among the recommendations include providing an additional probationary officer for expediting the cases relating to juveniles. A key official dealing with the cases, on condition of anonymity, said nearly 100 cases were pending. The Legal Services Authority had also asked for increasing the sittings of the board by allowing the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate to be a part of the Board which has sittings twice a week. It has also recommended services of two prosecutors.
