THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Jaleel Traders LLC, one of the largest retail distributors in the UAE and the Eastern Group, a leading masala manufacturer in the State, are floating a joint venture to set up a state-of-the-art spices and pulses processing facility in the UAE. Addressing a news conference here, Eastern Group Chairman M. E. Meeran said the new venture would help the company consolidate and expand its market share in the West Asian region. “Eastern is already a leading brand in packed curry powder and masala segment in the UAE. The new facility will help us derive more value for money,” he said. The Eastern Group and Jaleel Traders would be equal partners in the Rs. 30-crore joint venture. The 1,000-square metre plant being set up in Ras-Al-Khaimah in the UAE would focus mainly on processing and packaging pulses, rice, fruits, nuts, herbal dry leaves and spices from around 47 countries. The unit would also help Eastern to provide better reach for its products in the Gulf Cooperation Council.
