HYDERABAD: The brittle reserve strength of Hyderabad cricket was exposed after the dismal performances by HCA Combined Districts XI and the HCA President’s XI in the 77th all-India Moin-ud-Dowla Gold Cup invitation cricket tournament here on Tuesday. The Districts XI suffered the ignominy of being bundled out for 56 against BSNL with Joginder Singh (six for 25) being the main wicket-taker at ECIL ground. BSNL moved into the next round by virtue of its first innings lead as the three-day, truncated match ended in a draw. Later, President’s XI, comprising promising youngsters, put up a sorry performance. The scores: At Gymkhana: HCA President’s XI 151 for eight in 43 overs (B. Santosh Yadav 44 not out) lost to Vidarbha 152 for three in 37 overs (Harshal Shitoot 56, Alind Naidu 41). At NFC: Madhya Pradesh 275 drew with Goa 213 in 62.1 overs (Swapnil Asnodkar 89, Saurav Bandekar 62). MP moves up by virtue of first innings lead. At ECIL: BSNL 354 drew with HCA Combined Districts XI 56 in 30.5 overs (Joginder Singh six for 25). BSNL moves up by virtue of first innings lead. At RRC: Railways 99 in 33.2 overs drew with IOC 101 for no loss (Mithun Birala 31 not out, Cheteshwar Pujara 69 not out). IOC moves up by virtue of first innings lead. — Principal Correspondent
