Three held for cheating

NEW DELHI: Three persons who allegedly cheated people on the pretext of getting them jobs in the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) have been arrested by the Lodhi Colony police. Four blank cheque leaves have been seized from their possession.

The police received a complaint from the DMRC this past week alleging that a young man with a fake appointment letter for the post of junior executive had come to the office. The letter had forged the signature of DMRC chief public relations officer Anuj Dayal.

The police arrested the accused, identified as Nihal Singh. During interrogation, Nihal purportedly disclosed that he had got the letter from his nephew Pradeep for Rs. 70,000. At his instance, the police mounted a raid at Pradeep’s Faridabad residence but he was not there. The police called Pradeep to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences on the pretext that his maternal uncle had met with an accident.

As Pradeep reached the hospital, the police arrested him. He allegedly disclosed that he had lifted the signature and other details about Mr. Dayal from the Internet to forge the appointment letter seized from Nihal. He told the police that he along with his accomplice Joginder Chaudhary used to cheat people, particularly from rural areas. Pradeep would introduce Joginder to job seekers as a senior DMRC official.
