LUCKNOW: Angry residents of Pandeyganj locality in Lucknow lynched an alleged rapist and killer of a three-year-old girl on Tuesday. The man in his early 30s, who lived in the same locality, was declared brought dead to the Trauma Centre in Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University here. He was the next-door neighbour of the victim’s family. No FIR has been lodged. The girl went missing from her house at around 8 am on Tuesday. According to the residents , when her relatives went to the Wazirganj police station to report the matter the policemen seemed unconcerned about the whole episode. In the meantime, the girl’s father received a call on his cell phone from someone who said the child was with him. Within minutes, another call came from the same person informed him that his daughter would reach home in the evening. On finding that the call had been made from a public booth a few distance away from his house, inquiries by the girl’s relatives revealed that the caller was none other then their next-door neighbour, Shiv Mohan Sharma. The girl’s clothes and body wrapped in a piece of cloth was found from a box in the house of the accused, the police said. Incensed at the ghastly incident, the residents of the locality mercilessly beat up the alleged rapist. Shiv Mohan was rescued from the angry mob by the police who arrived on the scene a little later. He was declared dead at the Trauma Centre. According to the police, the accused had earlier served a prison term for allegedly raping a nine-year old girl of the same locality.
