KARIMNAGAR. The Communist Party of India(Marxist) Karimnagar town unit leaders staged a protest by cooking and serving food in front of the Collectorate on Wednesday demanding the Government to implement Koneru Ranga Rao committee recommendations.

The CPI(M) town secretary Muthyam Rao and other leaders, including Sarangapani, participated in the protest along with the women cadres and cooked food by burning the firewood. They asked the Government to distribute land to all the landless and warned of intensified agitation.

Meanwhile, Communist Party of India (CPI) Floor Leader in the Assembly Chada Venkat Reddy said that the party had launched land struggle only to provide land to the poor for their economic upliftment.

Participating in the party meeting at Baddam Yellareddy Bhavan in Karimnagar town on Wednesday, he said that their land struggle had attracted the attention of the entire country and intellectuals. He ridiculed Congress party leaders for alleging that their land struggle was aimed at gaining political mileage. He said that the struggle could be taken up only by the Left parties.

Claiming that several landless poor were with the Left parties, he flayed the Government for registering non-bailable cases against people involved in the movement. He reiterated that they would not succumb to any pressure and intensify their struggle till the Koneru Ranga Rao committee recommendations were implemented.

He asked the Government to constitute special land commission to ensure proper distribution of land. CPI district secretary M Venkat Swamy, state council member S Mallesham and others were also present
