ANANTAPUR: As part of the reforms initiated by the district administration to improve 10th class results, particularly of the hostel students, Collector N. Sridhar has directed the house welfare officers (wardens) to be stationed at their headquarters. He warned of serious disciplinary action against those who fail to fall in line with the instructions. In a recent meeting with the wardens of welfare hostels the Collector asked them to implement a common nutritious menu in all hostels. Tuitions
He told the house welfare officers to coordinate with the school teachers on the performance of the students and arrange tuitions in hostels in all subjects with special attention to students who are not up to the mark. He reminded the HWOs that Anantapur was placed last in the SSC results in the State and it was for them to ensure better results. They were given training for three days on improving general standards and SSC results in particular of hostel students. While the overall SSC pass percentage in the district was 55, it was a shade better in welfare hostels at 65. They should aim at achieving cent per cent results by the next academic year, the Collector told the wardens.
