Morning walkers rally against terror

Homage paid to young doctor killed in blasts of Hyderabad

Rallying point: Members of various social organisations taking out an anti-terrorism rally in Berhampur on Wednesday. –

BERHAMPUR: Morning walkers’ of the city got together on Wednesday to take out a silent rally against acts of terrorism. People of different age groups including women took part in this rally organised by the Youth Walkers’ Club of the city.

This silent rally held at early morning was also homage to the young doctor of the city, K.V.Anand, who had fallen prey to blasts by terrorists at Lumbini Park in Hyderabad on Aug 25. President of the club E.Srinivas Rao and its secretary P.Anil Kumar said it also an effort to make people conscious about minimum alertness needed by citizens to thwart nefarious attempts of terrorists.

District president of the Walkers’ International E. Padmanabh flagged off this silent march. Members of 19 clubs of the city took part in it. The silent rally started off from the Berhampur stadium and culminated at the Khallikote Autonomous College Stadium. These two stadiums are two major get together points of morning walkers of the city. On their way the marchers also went to the house of the departed doctor to pay condolences to his parents.

The silent marchers held placards with slogans like ’United we stand: Its only peace we demand".
