NARGUND (Gadag District): Congress leaders lambasted the Government and the coalition partners at a farmers’ convention organised by the Gadag District Congress unit in association with its unit at Nargund in Gadag district, here on Wednesday.

Congress leaders including Karnatala Pradesh Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge, the former Chief Minister Dharam Singh, the former Deputy Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, and the former Ministers Kagodu Timmappa, H.K. Patil and D.K. Shivakumar criticised the Government.

The convention was held to highlight problems faced by farmers and unite them for seeking share of the Mahadayi waters, most of the speakers ended up criticising the Government. Mr. Kharge termed it a “government of assurances.”

The coalition partners had given 700 assurances and even when there was no budgetary provision, foundation stones for various projects were being laid in a hurry, he said.

‘Gimmick’

Mr. Kharge termed the village stay programme of the Chief Minister as a gimmick.

Mr. Dharam Singh too criticised the coalition partners, especially the BJP.
