Third alternative in the making, says CPI (M)

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Left parties -- Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of India -- have made light of Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s claims that there was no political space for a third alternative in the State.

CPI (M) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu told The Hindu from Visakhapatnam that the Congress and the TDP were implementing the same policies on social and economic fronts whenever they came to power. And, the scope for an alternative would exist as long as they continued with these policies. “If Mr. Naidu wants to avoid the scope for a third alternative, let him come with alternative economic policies,” he said.

CPI State secretary K. Narayana said the chances for bringing together likeminded parties were on the rise. Various organisations working for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes had announced their plans on entering political arena in the State.
