HYDERABAD: The GHMC appears to have become more circumspect with regard to its ongoing action against hotels and other business establishments which have violated parking norms on Wednesday.
It sealed just two hotels – Om Hotels on Road No.36, Jubilee Hills and Hyderabad House in Malakpet and till reports last came in they stood closed. On the second day, GHMC had to back out when powerful politicians and bureaucrats allegedly intervened to ensure that two of the closed restaurants were re-opened the very day!
Ohri’s at Banjara Hills, which was ordered shut on Tuesday also started functioning from today. But, no vehicles were found parked outside. Although senior GHMC officials were putting up a brave front, the reversal of the decision was a definite embarrassment to officials who were determined to take some action. Some of them were said to have met late in the evening and reviewed their strategy. And all indications are that the drive would be intensified from tomorrow onwards.
