Language panel seeks implementation of GO 485

HYDERABAD: The AP Official Language Commission has called for implementation of GO 485 issued in 1974 providing for usage of Telugu in arguments and judgments in the lower courts in the State.

A.B. K. Prasad, chairman of the Commission, said in a press release issued here on Wednesday, that contrary to the prevailing practice of using Hindi in the high court judgements in UP, MP, Bihar and Rajasthan, Telugu was not used in Andhra Pradesh.

He said the Union Home Ministry in a letter to the commission on August 30 had admitted that the second national official language commission was not constituted in 1960, as was stipulated in the Constitution.
