HYDERABAD: Nazeema Aziz and Mohd. Ahmed Ali, head masters of Madrasa Jamitul Mominath, Moghalpura and Madrasa Mifth-Ul-Uloom, Rangeli Khidki respectively were among the teachers and headmasters felicitated by Collector R. V. Chandravad an on Wednesday. “This is the first time that ‘madrasas’ are being included in the list. Their performance is excellent despite lack of Government support,” said the Collector while recalling how he and Joint Director of SSA D.Manmadha Reddy, on their recent trip to old city, had been bowled over by the qualitative education being imparted in ‘Madrasas’. In all, 106 teachers, five each from private and aided schools and the rest from the Government schools, were felicitated by the Collector at the Teacher’s Day celebrations organised by the District Education Department. Stressing on the effectiveness of public-private partnership in education, the Collector applauded the “innovative approaches” adopted by the corporate and voluntary organisations for improved learning. Listing the efforts of the Government towards educational development, he said that 20 more schools were set up in the district at a cost of Rs. 20 crore this year. “Twelve school buildings are under construction and a sum of Rs. 2.2 crore has been approved for carrying out repairs to the existing ones,” he said and announced that ‘Suvidha’ scheme for improving sanitation in school buildings would be extended to 300 schools from the present 211. SSA support
About 9,788 students from 120 ‘madrasas’ would receive support from SSA towards modern education and mid-day meals, he announced.
