These are rumours: Yediyurappa

Staff Correspondent

TUMKUR: Deputy Chief Minster B.S. Yediyurappa here on Wednesday denied reports that Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar had emerged as the consensus candidate of the Janata Dal (Secular) and the BJP coalition to take over the chief ministership on October 3.

Mr. Yediyurappa told presspersons that he did not believe the reports. “The rumours may have been spread by some Janata Dal (S) legislators,” he said.

To a question on the former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda’s remarks against the BJP, Mr. Yediyurappa said Mr. Deve Gowda may have reacted in connection with the elections to the urban local bodies.

“It is natural for leaders to decry the other political parties at the time of elections,” he said.
