42 goat poisoned to death
VIRUDHUNAGAR: Forty-two goat were allegedly poisoned to death by a farm owner for damaging his field near Vembakottai here on Wednesday.
The goats belonging to A. Thangaraj (37) of Vijaykarisalkulam, while grazing at the farm, damaged the crop.
Irked over this, the farm owners, G. Subbiah, and his brothers Narayanan and Armugasamy, had left rice laced with poison on Wednesday evening.
The goat that entered the land started dying one by one after eating it.
Case booked
The Vembakottai police have booked the landlords under Section 429 of Indian Penal Code for killing the animals.
