VILLUPURAM: In an election-related violence, Arjunan, contesting the Nagar panchayat president post, and two of his nephews, were stabbed on Wednesday.
The incident occurred soon after the by-election to local body got over in the evening.
The election was held following the death of former panchayat president Rama Gounder. His son R. Prakash was also in the fray.
The police said in a wordy quarrel that occurred between the two groups, Vedantham, a supporter of Mr. Prakash, allegedly pulled out a knife and inflicted injuries on
Mr. Arjunan and his nephews Palani and Balu.
The injured have been rushed to Ponducherry Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital.
All the three are now out of danger.
