BHOPAL: District and Sessions Judge Renu Sharma on Thursday dismissed an appeal by the prosecution and maintained the earlier order passed by the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate acquitting the underworld don Abu Salem’s friend Monica Bedi in the fake passport case. Maintaining the lower court’s order acquitting Ms. Bedi, the Judge said in her order: “The manner in which a sensitive case which can have a direct impact on our national security has been investigated for lapses/omissions during the process of making passports calls for strict action against the persons responsible for the same.” Ms. Sharma had earlier reserved the order. She observed that the prosecution had failed to provide evidence for production of fake passports. Monica was present in the court on Thursday.
