CARE-2007 in Mysore

Special Correspondent

MYSORE: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mysore zone, will hold a two-day summit, CARE-2007 (Care for air, natural resources and mother earth), to address a wide range of issues pertaining to environment.

The summit will be attended by more than 200 delegates representing nearly 70 companies from across India.

According to Pradeep Mehta, Chairman, CII, Mysore, climate changes and global warming loom large and so the summit will focus on how Indian companies can earn carbon credits by developing projects under the Clean Development Mechanism of the United Nations.

He said CII’s thrust has been on sustainable development and growth and many corporates have done commendable work that demonstrates a commitment to business, growth, economic well-being and physical environment, which were not exclusive to each other. The summit will showcase such initiatives.

He said companies such as Philips Lighting and Jubiliant Organosys will share their experience with the participants and help dispel the perception that industrial growth can take place only at the cost of environment.

Likewise, other companies will explain the developments in the areas of renewable energy such as wind, solar and biomass.

Similarly, ADM Education Society will make a presentation on conservation of natural resources — challenges and opportunities for institutional collaborations.

The summit will be attended by H.C. Sharatchandra, Chairman, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Aravind Jannu, Secretary to Government (Ecology and Environment) and G. Srinikethan, Chairman, State Environment Impact Assessment Authority.

For details about the summit and participation contact CII, Mysore zone, 8/1A, Temple Road, Jayalakshmipuram, Mysore-12 or Ph: 0821-2517003.
