The policy will help avoid delay in forming layouts 45 p.c. of land acquired will be for civic amenities
BANGALORE: Making land losers part of the development process is the new mantra of the Government. In accordance with this policy, the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) announced that 40 per cent of the land developed in its new layouts will be given to those who have lost their land to acquisition. The fine print, however, is that if you are one of the land losers and want to question the acquisition in a court of law, then you will become ineligible for benefits under the policy. “If someone goes in for litigation and the court passes an order in our favour, then we will only give him an incentive site and monetary compensation, just the way we have been giving under the earlier land acquisition policy,” a top official of the BDA told The Hindu on Wednesday. “The policy has been brought out especially after the endless litigation that the BDA had to face while forming the Arkavathy Layout. It is to avoid delays and form the layouts as fast as possible,” the official said. Under the new policy, if one acre of land, that is 43,560 sq ft, is acquired from a person, he will receive 9,583 sq ft of land in return. As much as 45 per cent of the land acquired will be earmarked for civic amenities.
