Corrections and clarifications

The sixth paragraph in a report “‘AIIMS not ancestral property’” (September 6, 2007) was: “Blaming the Director for the delay in awarding degrees to students, Mr. Dayal said Minister Anbumani Ra madoss was willing to sign the degrees even before the court orders ….” Mr. Dayal is the Union Health and Family Welfare Secretary. The detail was edited out in some editions.

The eighth paragraph in a report “Chakvetadze in last four; Nadal, Serena exit” (“Sport”, September 6, 2007) was: “It capped a day that also saw a player lose a point when a ball fell out of his pocket, another complain about centre court TV screens and one of the wildest outfits in [U.S.] Open history.” A reader wondered who the player who lost a point was. No.23 seed Juan Monaco lost a point when a spare tennis ball in his pocket fell out when the game was in progress.

The text of a report “It’s a thrilling win for India” (September 6, 2007, page 1) stated that India needed 85 runs off the last 10 overs against England while another report (inside pages) “Uthappa sees India through” (“Sport”, September 6, 2007) said that India needed 83 runs. The page 1 report was right. (The reports were on the sixth of the seven-match NatWest ODI series between India and England.)
