Bangalore: Former Karnataka cricketer Imtiaz Ahmed claimed that he has been cleared of all charges levelled against him by Brijesh Patel, former cricketer and current KSCA secretary, in a criminal case filed in 1998. “Truth has prevailed. Brijesh and I were running the Brijesh Patel Cricket Academy (BPCA) from 1987 and after we split in 1998, following his withdrawal from the academy, I got the grounds earlier used by the BPCA and used it for my Imtiaz Ahmed Cricket Academy (IACA). “Brijesh filed a civil and criminal case citing ‘breach of trust’ and ‘cheating’ but I was acquitted of these charges in 2002 by the chief metropolitan magistrate. “Later, Brijesh filed an appeal in the High Court and that appeal too was dismissed on September 4, that is two days back, due to non-prosecution as the advocate for Brijesh kept asking for adjournment. “I am free of all charges now and will now step into the KSCA after a 10-year break,” Imitiaz Ahmed said in a press conference here late on Thursday night. Imtiaz added that copies of the judgement would be distributed to the media later.
