Mysore: Nagendra of Shanthi College, Malavalli emerged as the fastest man of the meet when he won the 100m event in style with a timing of 11.58s on the penultimate day of the 79th Annual Mysore University inter-collegiate athletic meet 2007-08 at the University Oval grounds here on Thursday. In the women’s section, Teresian College for Women, Mysore’s Mythri Aralikatti won her second gold (she had won the High Jump event yesterday) when she won the Heptathlon event with 2172 points. Shobha of Teresian College completed a sprint double (she had won the 100m on Wednesday) by clinching the 200m gold with a timing of 27.51s. Shanthi College, Malavalli’s athletes impressed on the second day in the men’s section by winning three gold and four silver medals, while in the women’s section Teresian College, Mysore bagged the top honours by winning five gold and four silver medals respectively. The results (winners only): Men: 20km walk: H.M. Shivakumar (Shanthi College, Malavalli-2hrs:30.51s); Pole vault: Bore Gowda (Shanthi College, Malavalli-2.70m); High jump: S. Ravichandra (Basudeva Somani FGC-1.71mtrs); 400m hurdles: Dhanyasunder (PGSC-1:02.39s); Hammer throw: Manjunath Swamy (JSS, Law-21.34mtrs); 100m: Nagendra (Shanthi College, Malavalli-11.58s); 5,000m: Ravi (SMC, Kollegal-17:18.77s); < em style="b">4x400m relay: PGSC (3:37.36s). Women: 5km walk: S.R. Tejaswini (Govt. Arts College, Hassan-36:17.09s); 5,000m: Smitha (Teresian College-20:38.94s); Triple jump: S. Shobha (Teresian College-9.69m); 400m hurdles: Reshm a (PGSC-1:22.10s); 200m: Shobha (Teresian College-27.51s); Heptathlon: Mythri Aralikatti (Teresian College-2172 pts); Javelin: Pravitha (GFGC, KR Nagar-34.45 mtrs); 4x400m relay: Teresian College ( 4:42.75s).
