THANJAVUR: Collector C. Vijayaraj Kumar has appealed to officials to be in a state of preparedness to meet any eventuality that might arise due to floods during the northeast monsoon in the district. He discussed safety and security measures to be adopted during the season. He asked the education department officials to prepare a list of school buildings and their condition before September 15 and submit the list to the revenue and public works departments. School buildings that were in a dilapidated condition should be strengthened immediately. He recalled the unprecedented floods faced by the people in 2005. Ambulances given by the Government to 14 panchayat unions should be kept ready. Municipalities and town panchayats should supply protected drinking water. The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board should remove poles that had loose wires and replace them with new ones.
