Liquor seized

Chitradurga: In a raid conducted by Chitradurga police on Wednesday, two persons were arrested for allegedly transporting illicit liquor. Around 50 crates of whisky and a four-wheeler were seized. The police gave the names of the accused as Ramesh (39) of Kadabanakatti village and Hanumantareddy (45) of Challakere taluk. Their associate Goppe Manja is said to be absconding.

The police said that on a tip-off, the police seized the vehicle near Kanaka circle in the city. The market value of the vehicle and liquor is estimated at Rs. 4.6 lakh. A case has been registered with Kote police station. — Staff Correspondent
