Lifer for killing official’s son

Rourkela: A peon was sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court for killing his officer’s son two years ago.

Additional District and Sessions Judge V. Jayashree also imposed Rs. 1,000 fine on Sankar Kalo (56) while convicting him for killing Sudhanshu Majhi, by beating him to death on October 16, 2005, at the residence of the officer, L.Majhi, then managing director of Lamps at Kuarmunda.

In case of failure to pay the fine, Kalo would undergo imprisonment for another two months, the judgment said.-PTI
