Medico-legal education programme to be held tomorrow
Manipal: A Continuing Medico-Legal Education (CMLE) programme on the “Role of the police and medical officers during investigation and trial” will be held here on Saturday under the joint auspices of the Department of Forensic Medicine of Kasturba Medical College (KMC), the District Legal Services Authority and the district police. Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, KMC dean R.S.P. Rao said that the purpose of the CMLE was to ensure better coordination between investigating agencies and the trial team comprising the police, doctors and public prosecutors to deliver justice. It would help participants to update their knowledge to counter the modern techniques being used by criminals. Eighty police officers, 40 doctors from primary health centres and 40 doctors from various KMC units would be participating in the CMLE, Dr. Rao said. Superintendent of Police A.S. Rao said that four policemen from every police station in the district along with Assistant Sub-Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors would participate in the CMLE. District and Sessions Judge K.N. Phaneendra and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine G. Pradeep Kumar were present.
