NEW DELHI: A recovery officer with the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh to de-freeze the accounts of a person.
The CBI received a complaint from a man, who had received a show-cause notice from ESIC, alleging that an ESIC recovery officer, R.K. Saxena, was demanding bribe to settle the matter by waiving the penalty levied on him.
On the basis of the complaint, the CBI registered a case and laid a trap for Sexana.
He was allegedly receiving the bribe amount from the complainant when the CBI sleuths arrested him on Wednesday night.
He was produced in a Delhi court that remanded him to 14 days’ judicial custody on Thursday.
