Police trying to secure email address of Shahed

Efforts to find out Shahed’s e-mail ID

Tourist’s video cassette has vital clue

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad city police on Thursday arrested ten persons on charge of plotting terror activities in the city but continued to struggle for clues to the twin blasts.

While three persons hailing from Moosarambagh and Saidabad were held on charge of attempting to recruit youngsters for terrorist training, seven were arrested for ‘aiding and abetting an alleged agent of Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence Abdul Sattar. Accused of undergoing terrorist training by Shahed of Harkat-ul Jihadi Islami (HuJI), Sattar was arrested two months ago.

The police are trying to track down Shahed, a Hyderabadi allegedly orchestrating terror activities in Andhra Pradesh from Bangladesh, by securing his email address through three of his agents who were among the 11 arrested persons.

They believe Shahed’s associates, Fasiuddin, Mohd. Sijauddin and Syed Imran are aware of his email address. The police moved a local court here seeking custody of the trio and hope to get vital clues about the online messages and information Shahed had sent to his associates in India.

Sources said investigators believe Fasiuddin, a degree student, interacted with Shahed online and has some vital details about the latter’s activities.

The student was charged with one Khader, who flew from Dubai to Hyderabad, to instigate youngsters to undertake disruptive activities. Fasiuddin and the other two were caught at Moosarambagh while they were in a meeting to discuss about their future course of action.

City Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh told reporters that the police stumbled on an important clue to the video images of Lumbini Park laser show on the day of blasts captured by a tourist from Maharashtra.

A tourist had sent to the police the video cassette he had recorded. The video footage is being analysed to zero in on suspects.
