Accountant General blanks Shastri SC

HYDERABAD: Accountant General (AP) scored a 3-0 win over Shastri Soccer Club in the SAAP Premier League prize money football tournament at the Gymkhana grounds here on Thursday.

Winger David put AG’s outfit ahead, in the 23rd minute with a fine solo effort.

Within seven minutes, midfielder Rafique essayed a delectable through pass to David who made no mistake in scoring his second goal and give AGAP a 2-0 lead at the break.

On resumption, AGAP continued to dominate but managed only one goal through substitute Anshul off a pass from Manibushan in the 62nd minute.

Easy win for Bhavan’s

Bhavan’s Junior College ‘A’ scored a convincing 148-run win over Cal Public School, in the HCA under-17 cricket tournament here.

HCA U-17 tournament: Bhavans JC ‘A’ 217 (Akshat Reddy 51, Sandep Goud 54, Abhishek Ashok three for 36) bt Cal Public School 69 for eight; St. Faiz High School 71 (Mohammad Sharif four for 23, Anirudh Vanka four for 23) lost to St. Mary’s Centenary JC, Sec’bad 73 for three (V. Vamshi Ram 40); St. Mary’s JC, Himayatnagar 60 (P.B. Parashar four for 15, A. Harshavardhan three for two) lost to St. John’s Church JC 61 for no loss; Wesley Jr College, Green 149 (Abhinav four for 53, Vinit three for 19) bt Jubilee Hills JC 98 (Phani Komal five for 12); HPS Ramanthapur 108 (Bala Shivaram 41, S.S. Prudhvi three for 10, Sunder Kumar three for 18) lost to Samaritans HS 109 for eight (Vishwajeet Patnaik 40).

A-Division (two-day) league: Syndicate Bank 211 (Md. Asad Ali 55, R.L.V. Prasad 50, Shakeel four for 30) drew with Gemini Friends 112 (G. Srinivas five for 50).

A-Division one-day league: Lal Bahadur PG 69 (Mohd. Nawaz four for 20) lost to St. Mary’s 70 for no loss.
Innings win for Krishna

Krishna defeated West Godavari by an innings and 134 runs, while the Guntur-Prakasam match ended in a draw in the ACA Central Zone u-19 inter-district tournament for Koka Ranga Rao memorial trophy in Vijayawada on Thursday. Krishna garnered five points, while Guntur finished with two points.

Krishna 310 for eight bt West Godavari 86 in 29.4 overs (Y. Abhimanyu three for 45) & 90 in 26.2 overs; Guntur 193 & 231 for five in 64.5 overs (M. Praneeth 104 n.o.) drew with Prakasam 114 in 35 overs (P. Venu 61, B. Nagaraju five for 41) & 100 for four in 19 overs (R. Achuth Kumar 47).
Prabhu Kiran shines

Prabhu Kiran scored 107 for the Secretary’s XI in the ACA u-22 selection match for K.V. Rao Trophy against President’s XI at Tarakarama Stadium at Venkatagiri (Nellore) on Thursday.

The scores:

Secretary’s XI: 291 for 8 in 84 overs (Prabhu Kiran 107, Rakesh 67, M. Chidambareswara Rao 55) vs. President’s XI.
Kurnool, Anantapur post wins

Kurnool defeated Nellore by 88 runs, while Anantapur posted a 10-wicket win over Kadapa in the Matrix Labs ACA South Zone u-15 inter-district tournament for A.V. Narasimha Reddy trophy at Kurnool on Thursday.

Kurnool 304 in 77.3 overs (Ch. Vikram Surya Teja 144, Raghava Preetam 47, Harsha three for 41, Hemanth three for 20) bt Nellore 115 in 68.2 overs (Ashwin 56, Sharan three for 21) & 101 in 58 overs (Sharan seven for 20).

Anantapur 275 in 72.3 overs (Khaja 63, Anil 60, Ramesh seven for 66, Naren Reddy three for 76) & 17 for no loss bt Kadapa 116 in 50.2 overs (Irfan four for 39, Wasim three for 11) & 173 in 61 overs (Dhruva 55, Irfan four for 32, R. Naik three for 29).
Chess tournaments

Andhra Pradesh Chess Association will organise AP Open prize money tournament for Brilliant Trophy from September 8 to 9, according to a press release. For details contact Phone No. 9247399717.

It is also informed that the State under-19 boys and girls’ championship will be held in Nandyal from September 12 to 13 and the under-9 championship in Visakhapatnam from September 17 to 18 and the Mekhala Abhinav and Immortals memorial State prize money tournament in Kodad (Nalgonda district) from September 22 to 23. Inter-district tennikoit

The senior inter-district tennikoit championships for men and women will be held at the Rajiv Gandhi indoor stadium, Amberpet, Hyderabad from Sept. 7 to 9.

About 250 sportspersons representing 21 districts will take part. Players selected in this meet will represent the State at the senior Nationals at Puducherry from Oct. 1 to 5.
