CHENNAI: Dig Vijay Singh will feature in both the Under-16 and Under-14 boys’ finals while in the girls’ section the title round matches in both categories will have the same set of contestants on Friday in the Good Earth super series tennis tournament 2007 being held at the SDAT Nungambakkam stadium. Dig Vijay will play Saurabh Singh in the Under-16 final while local boy Mohit Mayur will challenge him in the Under-14 section. Ankita Raina and Sharan Paul will play the final in the two age categories in the girls section. City I and City III shared the under-19 TNCA round-robin city cricket title after the teams were tied on the first innings in the two-day final played here. Off-spinner J. Joel Joseph took five for 49 to reduce City III to 131 for eight, but M. Guhan struck an unbeaten 49 and helped add 63 runs for the last two wickets as City III drew level. R. The Chennai district unit of the SDAT proposes to conduct the ‘Anna birthday cycle race’ on September 15 at the Nehru stadium at 7 a.m. The race will be conducted in two categories — under-17 and under-14 boys and girls (school students only). Prizes and certificates will be distributed soon after the race, according to a SDAT press release. Handball trials
The Tamil Nadu Handball Association will hold trials at the Anna Stadium in Tiruchi on September 11 (10 a.m.). Players born after January 2, 1988, are eligible and they should bring age-proof and two passport sizes photographs. For further details contact 94441-79166.
