KANCHEEPURAM: Sand mining operations at Kaalur was streamlined with the help of policemen, who regulated the movement of sand lorries in Palar riverbed on Friday.
Enquiries revealed that hundreds of lorries, which were parked haphazardly and impeding movement of other vehicles, were moved and parked in an orderly manner this morning.
Subsequently, sand was loaded in the vehicles using earthmovers at the actual quarry site.
Meanwhile, official sources said seven sand lorries were seized on charges of overloading, non-production of out pass issued by the PWD and so on.
A lorry driver, whose vehicle was intercepted near Padalam, was arrested for producing fake bill. In all less than 15 vehicles were said to have been seized by revenue and police officials at different places in the district on Friday.
