Karunanidhi’s advice to Anbumani

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi advised Union Health Minister R. Anbumani to heed to the opinion of the Left parties on the issue of compulsory rural service for medicos.

In a statement here, he said there could not be a difference in opinion that interest in rural service and the sense of responsibility to serve in villages had to be inculcated in medicos. But extension of education for a year could not be accepted to ensure this. Hence, Dr. Anbumani should heed the opinion of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of India on the issue. — Special Correspondent
