CHENNAI: An Indo-European Arthroscopy-Arthroplasty Foundation (IEAAF) was set up on Friday at Sri Ramachandra University (SRU) to train young orthopaedic surgeons on par with international standards. Inaugurating it, president of the foundation Alex Fievez said that with the collaboration of the medical network in Europe and cadaver, research and medical facilities at SRU students and patients would benefit from the latest teaching methods and the healthcare provided. Dr. Fievez and other senior orthopaedic surgeons from The Netherlands and India performed live surgeries on the shoulder joints as part of a symposium on ‘Shoulder arthroscopy and minimally invasive arthoplasty’. Chief advisor and director (research) of SRU S.P. Thiagarajan and executive president of the foundation S. Arumugam were present.
