Slow progress of LI scheme alleged

UMMEDA (NIZAMABAD Dt.): Former Minister Mandava Venkateswar Rao criticised the Government that it was not showing interest for the speedy completion of the Argul Rajaram Gupta lift irrigation scheme on river Godavari.

Talking to reporters after visiting the LI scheme’s zero point at this village in Nandipet mandal, on Saturday he said going by the works being carried out, the possibility to give water to the earmarked ayacut even by next kharif appeared to be remote.

He advised the State to come out clear with the facts about the projects taken up under the Jalayagnam. The party leaders V.G. Goud, A. Kishan Rao and Dileep Kumar accompanied him.-Staff Reporter
