Lobby for Telangana, TRCCC leaders told

Staff Reporter

Harish Rao decries failure in responding to issues like GO 610 and GO 34

Sangareddy: Former Minister and Siddipet legislator T. Harish Rao demanded that the Telangana Regional Congress Coordination Committee (TRCCC) convince United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Telangana and return from Delhi only after achieving a separate State.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Harish Rao said the regional council, which has been in a state of suspended animation for long, remained mum while the region suffered the most. He pointed out that the TRCCC leaders failed to respond on pertinent issues like GO 610 and GO 34. He wanted to know why Telangana protagonists like Chinna Reddy failed to save privatisation of Nizam Sugars.

Land sale

Mr. Harish Rao demanded that the State Government invest funds that accrued from selling valuable lands in Medak district for development of the region. He pointed out that not even a fraction of the amount has been invested for the development of infrastructure here. He demanded that the Chief Minister make an announcement in this regard during his visit here on Sunday. Enlisting a list of promises made by the Chief Minister during his earlier visits to the district, the TRS leaders demanded their speedy implementation.

He also deplored the manner in which 30 guntas of land on which the Chief Minister would be laying foundation for the Congress party office has been handed over to that party even as the application of TRS was pending with the authorities. He claimed that as the Minister for Youth Services he had surrendered that particular land so that TRS could build a party office for Medak district. He wanted the Chief Minister to announce an alternative site within two days. MLC Satyanarayana, party Medak unit president M. Raghunandan Rao were also present.
