Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: A delegation of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Members of Parliament met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday and sought a comprehensive protective legislation for the unorganised sector and agricultural workers.
They urged him to ensure that the Bills were introduced in the current session of Parliament.
They drew Dr. Singh’s attention to the report of the National Commission for Enterprises in the Unorganised Sector on the conditions of workers. They wanted the Prime Minister to pay heed to the NCEUS recommendations on the comprehensive legislations on unorganised sector and agricultural workers.
The delegation, led by Sitaram Yechury, comprised Brinda Karat, Mohammad Amin, Mohammad Salim, Rupchand Pal, Prasant Chatterjee and Tapan Kumar Sen.
