Five missing fishermen rescued

NAGERCOIL: Five fishermen, who went missing on the sea off the coast of Colachel since Friday, were rescued by fellow fishermen on Saturday. John Britto, Ignatius, Jessiah, Merwin and Antony, all hailing from Kurumbanai, a coastal hamlet near Colachel, ventured into the sea in the early hours of Friday. Since they failed to return home at the usual time of 10 a.m., fellow fishermen went in search of the missing men.

They were rescued after they were found drifting away due to strong winds after the boat’s engine broke down. — Staff Reporter
