NEW DELHI: Woman Grandmasters Tania Sachdev and Nisha Mohota signed peace in 33 moves to be joint third with four others with 3.5 points after the fifth round of the Asian women’s chess championship in Teheran on Friday. On the top board, China’s Huang Qian defeated compatriot and top seed, Ruan Lufei, in 41 moves to share the lead with Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Thanh An at four points. Earlier, in an all-Vietnamese clash, Nguyen Thi Thanh An defeated Le Kieu Thien Kim in 20 moves. The results: Fifth round (involving Indians): Tania Sachdev (3.5) drew with Nisha Mohota (3.5); Shayestesh Ghaderpour (Iri, 3) drew with Aarthie Ramaswamy (3); Shirin Navabi ((Iri, 2.5) drew with Eesha Karavade (2.5); Wang Xiaohui (Chn , 2) lost to Swati Ghate (2.5); Amruta Mokal (2.5) bt Mona Salman Mahini (Iri, 1).
