SAI-STC (Kurnool) beats Shastri Club

HYDERABAD: Sports Authority of India (STC, Kurnool) scored a solitary goal win over Shastri Club in the SAAP Premier League prize money football tournament at Gymkhana Grounds here on Saturday.

After a barren first-half, the match-winner came through striker D.Ravi Kumar who picked a lovely cross from Nishar to find the target.

In another match, a brace by winger David — who scored in the 12th minute and then again in the second session — and a fine goal by Rafique saw Accountant General (AP) score a 3-1 win over Hyderabad sporting. For the loser, Talah reduced the margin.

Sandeep moves up

S. Sandeep entered the men’s singles quarterfinal with a 21-15, 21-16 win over K. Hemanth in the 26th senior inter-district tennikoit tournament at Amberpet Indoor Stadium here.

Tennis tournament

The Vijay Textiles-ITF Grade V tennis tournament for under-18 boys’ and girls’ will be held at the SAAP Tennis Complex, Lal Bahadur Stadium, here from September 17 to 22, preceded by two days of qualifying rounds.

At a press conference here, Ashok Kumar, Secretary, AP Lawn Tennis Association said the event had attracted entries from Australia, Kenya, Sweden, Korea and Chinese Taipei. B. Vikram Reddy, ranked 265 on the ITF list and Archana Veeramachaneni (316) are the top seeds.
