England has the last laugh at Lord’s
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: England beat India by seven wickets in the final match at Lord’s on Saturday to take the Natwest Series 4-3.
Needing to overhaul India’s total of 187, England suffered a couple of early hiccups, but Kevin Pietersen and captain Paul Collingwood put on an unbroken stand of 114 to carry England to victory. The win was a comprehensive one, achieved with 13.4 overs to spare. England managed to recoup after its morale-sapping loss in the sixth game, where it failed to defend a target of 317.
Man-of-the-match Pietersen scored an unbeaten 71 to guide his team home.
