A handy directory of doctors

Here is a directory that is really handy. The 330-page directory has information on 4,200 doctors in the district.

Mohan Raj, Editor and Managing Partner, Star Communications, says the directory has been compiled with the help of their field staff who met the doctors to confirm the telephone numbers.

The first edition of the book for the Ernakulam district was launched on Saturday by Philip Augustine, Managing Director of the Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre.

The directory, given free to the doctors, will be available for the public at Rs.50 from the medical stores, hospitals, book stores and margin free markets here.

The handbook has information on doctors from different streams of medicine such as Allopathy, Ayurveda and Homoeo. Separate sections have also been devoted to doctors in dental and veterinary fields. The book also contains articles by doctors on public health issues.

The Kozhikode-based publishers had earlier brought out directories in Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Malappuram. In fact, the third edition (2007-2009) of the directory for Kozhikode district will be released in October. The publishers released the second edition of Malappuram district directory.
