Thiruvananthapuram: More private hospitals would be empanelled to provide specialist services, which are not available under Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinics of the State, a press release issued by the Ministry of Defence said here on Sunday. This would benefit large number of ex-servicemen residing in the State, according to Lt. General Saibal Mukherjee, Director General of Medical Services (Army) and Col Commandant, Army Medical Corps, Army HQs. Lt. General Mukherjee visited ECHS Polyclinic and Military Hospital here. He also added that AMC Placement Cell had started functioning from December 18 last year to help find jobs for those who had retired from the Army medical services. He said that in terms of organised health care, Army’s medical services were the best in the field. Jai Jawan Housing Scheme had been started for the benefit of the jawans. Also, AMC Helpline service had been established which will provide all the information concerning medical services of the Army. Pangode Station Commander Brigadier P.M. Hariz and Col. D. Mohapatra, Commanding Officer, Military Hospital discussed with him matters regarding ECHS Polyclinics and the need to improve facilities at Military Hospital in the capital.
