Deplorable

The report that the ‘sting’ operation carried out by a television channel exposing a Delhi school teacher pushing her student into prostitution was fake and motivated is shocking. Proliferation of news channels has resulted in unhealthy competition and some of them indulge in unethical practices to gain popularity. Innocent citizens become victims of such manoeuvres. This tendency should be curbed by constituting an authority to vet sting operations and allow them only after verifying that they are indeed in public interest.
