Kochi: Microsoft announced here recently the opening of its office here. With Kochi as hub in the State, the company planned to service Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram, a press release said here recently. The release said opening of the office was an important move for Microsoft and it showed the importance of the State in the company’s plans for India. The region was an emerging information technology (IT) hub and a strong market for the small-and-medium business segment, a key focus area of Microsoft. In the release, Neelam Dhawan, managing director, Microsoft India, said: “Microsoft has been working with customers in Kerala for several years now and our products and services have been successfully leveraged both by Government organisations and the private sector. The progressive spirit of the region makes it one of the most dynamic business centres in southern India.” The release said Microsoft intended to consolidate its relationship with industry associations in the region to understand and address local business challenges and accordingly customise its local market education initiatives.
