Kakinada: Union Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju and State Minister for Ports M. Venkata Ramana Rao administered polio drops to children at Godarigunta maternity centre here on Sunday. They called upon people to strive for building up of a society free from polio disease. Zilla Parishad Chairman Ch. S. Venu Gopalakrishna, MLCs -- N Sesha Reddy and Gidugu Rudra Raju -- city Mayor K. Saroja, district library authority Chairman B. Prasada Raju and Municipal Commissioner Y. Sivakoti Prasad also administered polio drops to children. Later, district Collector M. Subrahmanyam made a surprise visit to polio booths at Indrapalem and Kovvada villages and administered polio drops to children. He said 4,250 teams were deployed to conduct survey each household for covering the eligible children under the programme. 152 centres
Rajahmundry: Polio drops were administered at 152 centres in Sunday in all 50 divisions. MLA Rowthu Suryaprakasha Rao administered drops to the children below five years at Annapoornammapeta, while Mayor Adireddy Veeraraghavamma took part in the programme at Gokavaram. The ‘Pulse polio’ immunisation programme was also organised in various parts of the district.
