One killed as bus overturns

CHAMARAJANAGAR: One person was killed and 22 were injured when a private bus overturned near Purani Gate in B.R. Hills on Saturday.

The accident occurred when the driver was trying to negotiate a turn near Purani Gate around 4 p.m. The bus carrying more than 60 passengers was nearing Yelandur. The police gave the name of the deceased person as Kantha Nayak (33), a resident of Nayaka’s Extension in Chamarajanagar

The police said that two of the three persons who got stuck under the bus had been rescued. They were identified as Mallesh (25) of Nilakalpur village in Kollegal taluk and Shivu of Chamarajanagar.

Both of them are in a serious condition and they are being treated at the government hospital in Chamarajanagar.

As many as 20 persons have been admitted to the government hospital in Yelandur.

A case has been registered against the bus driver.
