Refuses to comment on Deve Gowda’s remarks BJP leader confident of transfer of power
DAVANGERE: Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa said on Sunday that the Congress was unable to take the popularity gained by the coalition government through its various programs and schemes. He said that the Congress leaders were wondering why they could not do what the present Government had done. Talking to presspersons here, Mr. Yediyurappa said that the coalition government had not laid foundation stone for any work which had not been approved in the budget. He said that he would bow to Congress leaders if they could name any such project. He told the Congress leaders not to criticise the Government for the sake of criticism and instead suggest some development project left out, if any, by the present government. Mr. Yediyurappa said that he and Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy had toured six districts in the last 20 days and inaugurated various development projects. The BJP would project the developmental works and pro-people schemes that the coalition government had implemented in the last 19 months as proof of its performance, in the municipal elections, he added. Mr. Yediyurappa said that both the BJP and Janata Dal (Secular) could individually stake 50 per cent claim in the performances of the coalition government in the past 19 months. He refused to comment on the recent remarks of H.D. Deve Gowda and Mr. Kumaraswamy merely saying that he was confident that Mr. Kumaraswamy would hand over power to the BJP. To a question, Mr. Yediyurappa said that the BJP would win in most of the urban local bodies.
