Youth arrested on rape charge

BHADRAVATI: A group of people gathered in front of the Paper Town Police Station here on Saturday protesting against the alleged lackadaisical attitude of police officials with regard to arresting a person, accused of raping a minor girl.

It was stated that the girl, studying in standard 9 was living with her grandparents in Bhadravati to pursue her studies.

The accused, Shyam, accompanied by Bharath entered their house at around 9 p.m. on Friday, and forcibly took the girl on his motorcycle to an isolated place near the bypass road where he allegedly raped her.

On a complaint filed, Shyam (25) has since been arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
