The Union Minister of State for Commerce, Jairam Ramesh contributed Rs. 20 lakh worth of funds for the hostel for the girls.
“It is difficult staying in a rented room. The money did not come regularly. We miss the class to cook food in the early hours,” said Bharathi, a Koya girl studying BSc.
