NACHUPALLI (KARIMNAGAR DT): The State Government has embarked upon an ambitious task of transforming all the women self-help group members into ‘lakhpatis’ (lakhshadhikaris) with their economic empowerment in the next three to four years. Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy made this announcement on Sunday after interacting with the women SHG members in Nachupalli village of Kodimial mandal. The Chief Minister laid foundation stone for the construction of JNTU Engineering College in Nachupalli on the foothills of historic Sri Anjaneya Swamy Devasthanams in Kondagattu temple shrine and he also distributed assets worth over Rs. 52.62 crore including Rs. 43.67 crore to the women groups. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Reddy said that the Government would take measures to make all women SHG members as ‘lakhpatis’ with their economic empowerment programmes by providing loans through pavala vaddi scheme. “All the rich industrialists and others have become rich only by taking bank loans. We are giving loans to the womenfolk at lowest interest rate at pavala vaddi scheme for their economic activities,” he noted. He also urged the womenfolk to rear cattle and sheep, set up poultry and other business activities to become into lakhpatis and crorepatis. Telangana development
Highlighting the achievements of the State Government, he said the Government was taking all measures for the development of Telangana region on all fronts. Ridiculing the TDP leaders claim that free power supply was not possible in the State, he asked the TDP leaders to catch the electric wires to check whether there was power supply or not. Responding to a plea made by Minister for R&B T. Jeevan Reddy, the Chief Minister announced setting up of a university in Karimnagar town during the next academic year. He assured to start the gas-based power plant in Karimnagar district after tying up with the gas companies for the supply of required gas for the power plant. Ministers T. Jeevan Reddy, J. Later, Dr. Reddy attended the foundation laying ceremony of Indira Bhavan near Mahila Pranganam. APCC president K. Keshava Rao laid foundation for the party office and urged the workers to treat the office as centre for service to the poor and needy. Minister for Major Irrigation and district in-charge Ponnala Laxmaiah, Minister for School Education Damodar Rajnarsimha, MP Nandi Yellaiah, legislators Sunitha Laxma Reddy and Sasidhar Reddy were also present.
